their knowledge of fitness training to enhance sports performance. Workshops
can be delivered at sports clubs or alternative facilities, at convenient times as requested by the
sports team.

Sports-Specific Fitness Testing
Fitness testing could be classed as the first stage of a training plan.
Regular testing can improve athlete motivation, assess strengths and
weaknesses and provide an integral benchmark of progression. However, it
must be ensured that tests are performed under accurate testing conditions
to validate results.
This workshop will teach you how to:
• Perform a range of basic fitness tests to assess athletes strengths and
areas for improvements
• Interpret and assess results in relation to normative data to establish
effective programme design
• Evaluate the validity and reliability of the tests
• Assess which tests are most appropriate to perform according to the needs
of the sport / athlete
After attending this workshop you will have gained an insight into the
methods and advantages of fitness testing.
This practical-based workshop is geared towards athletes and coaches of team
and court sports, and lasts 3 hours. All candidates will receive workshop
notes and a certificate of attendance.

Fitness Programme Design for
Elite Performance
Effective training programme design for athletes should encompass several
training principles designed to optimise progression, and only through
detailed planning and careful consideration of these can both short and
long-term objectives be achieved.
This workshop will teach you how to:
• Identify individualised and sports-specific training needs
• Devise sports-specific training sessions and programmes that will improve
athletic fitness
• Devise a long-term training plan to maximise performance
• Prepare different exercise programmes for the various stages of the
season, so that optimal performance can be achieved and injury risk is
reduced
• Optimise results through effective rest and recovery
After attending ‘Fitness Programme Design for Elite Performance’ you will
have gained an insight into the basis of programme design, allowing you to
prescribe effective fitness training plans.
This workshop is geared towards athletes and coaches who want to enhance
their knowledge of how to construct effective fitness training programmes.
This theory-based workshop lasts 3 hours. All candidates will receive
workshop notes and a certificate of attendance.

Core Stability Training For
Athletes
Core stability is now seen as an integral part of training programme design
for many athletes. However, incorrect technique and application may cause
injury and lack of progress.
This workshop will teach you how to:
• Identify and apply a range of sports-specific exercises to meet the
performers needs
• Use a range of training equipment to enhance performance
• Deliver tests to assess athlete’s level of core stability
After attending ‘Core Stability Training For Athletes’ you will be able to
use core stability training techniques to improve performance.
This workshop will benefit athletes or coaches involved in team or
individual sports.
The workshop lasts 3 hours and is composed of practical activities. All
candidates will receive workshop notes and a certificate of attendance.

Speed and Agility Training For
Athletes
Most sports require high levels of speed and agility. Athlete’s who are
quicker than their opponents have a distinct advantage.
This workshop will teach you how to:
• Set-up a variety of training drills to develop an edge over your opponents
• Use a range of equipment designed to enhance quick, coordinated movement
• Identify drills with similar skill patterns to your sport
• Improve your speed, agility, reaction time and coordination
After attending this workshop you will have gained a repertoire of training
drills that will enhance speed and agility for sport.
This 3 hour workshop will benefit athletes or coaches involved in team and
court sports, and consists of practical activities. All candidates will
receive workshop notes and a certificate of attendance.

An Introduction to Weight
Training for Sports Performance
Sports strength can be enhanced by effective weight training. However,
incorrect technique may cause injury, and inappropriate exercise selection
may inhibit progression.
This workshop will teach you how to:
• Select appropriate exercises to strengthen the muscles predominantly used
in your sport
• Perform a range of exercises with correct technique
• Design a basic weight training programme to enhance sports performance
After attending 'An Introduction to Weight Training for Sports Performance'
you will understand the concept of strength training, and how it can be
applied to improve sports performance.
This workshop will primarily benefit athletes or coaches involved in
strength and power sports.
The workshop lasts 3 hours and is composed of practical activities. All
candidates will receive workshop notes and a certificate of attendance.
